Dossier To China

Welcome to our blog about the adoption of our daughter from China. This journey began many months ago when Christopher and I felt an intense calling to look into the possibility of an international adoption. For us, this was a new door to be opened as we had never truly thought that this was a path that we would take and really had thought our family was complete. We believe that God has placed the plight of the orphan in our hearts. It was as if He was saying, Don't get too comfortable- I have a better plan for you and it is beyond your imagination! Well, how can you argue with that! God has continued to show us His love and promise even through our difficult times, so we know He will be faithful on this journey as well.

We first attended a workshop with the Great Wall China Adoption Agency at the end of July of last year in Plano, Texas. When we started this discussion we knew it was important to understand what we were getting into before we moved forward and (not surprisingly) the agency that we had been looking at had a workshop in Plano and we were already suppose to be in Dallas that weekend. So we signed up right away and went through the process so we better understood what we were getting into- but I think we both knew that we were going to figure this out no matter how difficult it might have seemed. So after much discussion and prayer and with the support of both our families and our boys, we decided to move forward and began the process that will one day bring our daughter home from China. We believe that He has guided us in our decision and will continue to see us through this difficult process. Although we had started out with the intention of adopting a healthy daughter, our hearts have also been open to the possibility of adopting a child with minor special needs. We have just completed the "paperchase" and our Dossier arrived in China today, April 6, 2009. So we are currently DTC and awaiting the Log-In Date or LID. I will post more regarding the process for those who are interested in how this all works at a later date. We hope that you will join us in this adventure and ask that you pray for our family and our little girl somewhere in China.
